Here's something "Berry" good for YOU (Superfood Series)

 


I bet you guessed it...this is all about berries, one of  many amazing superfoods. They not only taste good but they're also packed with antioxidants that help protect you from disease and illness. Cancer and heart disease are leading causes of death that berries help fight. They also do wonders for your immune system. Another added benefit is the brain boost that berries provide. 



Cranberry juice is a personal favorite, especially since cranberries are believed to reduce my chances for Urinary Tract Infections. I've heard women say they drink it to help treat their UTI, but they've not been shown to have that effect. That said, preventing one from ever happening is the better deal!


Here are three simple ways to get more berries in your diet:

  1. Breakfast smoothies - and if you've got a handy tool, such as a nutribullet or ninja, they're super quick to whip up and great on the go. Try this healthy recipe that mixes in oats and chia seeds.
  2. Salads - adding a few strawberries or blueberries to any salad kicks up the flavor, while also kicking up your health. There are also great dressings made with berries.
  3. Dessert (yum) - add a few to whatever sweet treat your indulging in, throw a dollop of whipped cream on top of a bowl of berries, or just savor the natural sweet juices of your favor berries just as they are.
